Hand cast used as model for Dan Gable sculpture

Plaster cast of hand used in creation of Dan Gable sculpture. Larry took a cast of a hand (subject unknown) and used the hand as a model for sculpting Dan Gable’s hand on life size sculpture.

The University of Iowa commissioned Larry to create a life size sculpture of two-time NCAA Division I National Champion, World Gold Medalist, and Olympic Gold Medalist Dan Gable in 2012. Gable was the Univ IA wresting coach from 1976 to 1997. Larry’s Dan Gable sculpture was unveiled April of 2012 in is one of four sculptures created by Larry that are on the University’s campus in Iowa City.
